SALT LAKE CITY — The Utah Senate paused its legislative business Jan. 31 to present a floor citation honoring Mary Andrus, who the citation says is retiring after 23 years of service as a journal clerk for the Legislature.
Senator J. Vickers rose to recognize Andrus and described her as an "integral part" of the Senate family, praising her long service and steady presence on the floor. "You've always been so kind. You've got a smile on your face always," Vickers said, thanking her for her dedication.
The reading clerk read the formal citation into the record, noting that Andrus’s work helped the Legislature capture proceedings in detail, contributed to the efficiency of the legislative process, and left an "indelible mark" on the legislative community. The citation was presented on the floor and signed by President J. Stewart Adams and Senator Evan Bickers.
The Senate offered additional congratulations from members on the floor; senators, staff and family members were acknowledged during the presentation. The citation was dated Jan. 31, 2024, and the Senate recorded the recognition as part of the session minutes.
