The Utah State Senate adopted Senate Concurrent Resolution 2 on the ninth day of the legislative session, recognizing the Utah Association of Counties (UAC) on its 100th anniversary.
Senator Vickers, presenting the resolution, recounted UAC’s origins as the Conference of County Auditors, Clerks and Treasurers and highlighted the organization’s work representing county interests before the state and federal governments. “UAC offers cost‑saving opportunities for all of their counties,” Vickers said, noting county officials from around the state were present on the Senate floor.
After a brief discussion and a motion to suspend the constitutional three‑reading requirement, the Senate proceeded to a roll‑call vote under suspension of the rules. The presiding officer announced the resolution passed and instructed that it be transmitted to the House for its consideration.
The resolution is ceremonial: it recognizes the centennial of UAC and expresses the Legislature’s gratitude for the organization’s service to county governance. No regulatory or funding actions were associated with the resolution during floor debate.
The Senate returned to other calendar business following the resolution vote.
