During the Feb. 8 session, the Utah House of Representatives paused floor business to recognize families of four service members who died in the past year. Representative Anderson escorted the families into the chamber, extended condolences and requested a moment of silence.
The House clerk read an official citation noting the service and sacrifice of Master Sergeant Seth Bodwin, Petty Officer Second Class Daniella Juliana Casey, Specialist Michael Anderson Hatfield and Major Brent Russell Taylor and presented the citation to family members in the gallery. Representative Anderson said the body was grateful for the sacrifices made by the service members and their loved ones.
Members of the families were invited to display photographs to the chamber and several representatives offered brief words of appreciation. The citation was dated Feb. 8, 2019.
The recognition was ceremonial and occurred prior to further legislative business that day, including the floor debate and passage of SB 96’s fourth substitute.
