Chair Timothy Hawks delivered the committee’s recommendation, which assigned bills to committees including Business & Labor; Economic Development & Workforce Services; Education; Government Operations; Health & Human Services; Judiciary; Law Enforcement & Criminal Justice; Natural Resources, Agriculture & Environment; Political Subdivisions; Public Utilities, Energy & Technology; Retirement & Independent Entities; Revenue & Taxation; and Transportation. Examples noted on the floor included HB36 (election amendments), HB31 (local government and limited purpose entity registry amendments, as amended) and HB50 and HB53 (tax-related measures) being placed on consent or third-reading calendars.
The Speaker adopted the rules committee report by motion and the House referred the named bills to the designated standing committees. Several bills were also placed on the consent calendar for expedited consideration.
The committee’s assignments set committee review schedules and are the next procedural step for these measures; affected committees will hold hearings and report back to the floor according to the legislative calendar.
