Williams accepted the recognition and thanked the commission and community, saying he appreciated the opportunity to serve after “over 45 years.” Several commissioners offered personal remarks: Commissioners and the mayor highlighted Williams’s steady leadership and long-term commitment to the city. The commission’s recognition was presented without opposition and no formal vote was required.
The presentation preceded other business at the year-end meeting; commission members later offered additional farewell comments before adjourning.
