The Elko County School District board approved a revised policy IKC (miscellaneous distribution of materials) on a second reading and adopted the changes by voice vote during its meeting in Wells.
Staff described the IKC revisions as simplifications to provide general structure without prescribing operational minutiae. Trustees said they appreciated added language that recognizes social, recreational and educational partners in district programs. A motion to approve and adopt the policy was made and passed by voice vote.
Later in the meeting the board moved to approve accounts payable. A trustee disclosed that a family member is employed by Wellsville Electric but said she would not abstain; the chair disclosed a payment on his behalf for an NASB class and likewise did not abstain. After discussion the accounts-payable motion passed by voice vote.
No roll-call tallies were recorded on the transcript; the chair noted five board members were present at the start of the meeting. The transcript records voice approval ("aye") on both motions.
Next steps: adopted policy IKC will be implemented per district procedures; accounts payable will be processed according to standard practice.
