The Tenafly Mayor and Council on Dec. 17 held public hearings and adopted several ordinances on second and final reading and approved consent agenda items.
Ordinance 24-36: A bond ordinance to authorize replacement of the sanitary sewer line on West Railroad Avenue (River Edge Road to Washington Avenue). The ordinance, as read into the record, appropriates $500,000 for the project and authorizes issuance of bonds and bond anticipation notes. The council opened the floor for public comment (no speakers) and moved to adopt on second and final reading; a roll call vote recorded affirmative responses from members present.
Ordinance 24-37: An ordinance to fix salary/wage compensation for Public Works Supervisors bargaining unit for calendar years 2025–2027. Council moved and seconded to adopt on second and final reading and recorded affirmative roll call responses.
Ordinance 24-38: An ordinance amending the police salary ordinance for calendar years 2023–2026. The council opened public comment (none), moved to adopt on second and final reading and recorded affirmative roll call responses.
Ordinance 24-39: An ordinance setting compensation for Tenafly Administrative Employees bargaining unit for calendar years 2024–2027. The council moved and adopted on second and final reading with affirmative roll call votes.
Ordinance 24-40: An ordinance amending chapter 18 (sewer connections) to revise regulation of grease traps and interceptors. The council opened public comment (none), moved to adopt and recorded affirmative roll call votes.
Ordinance 24-41: An ordinance amending salary/wage compensation for certain management, administrative and part-time employees for 2024–2027; council moved, seconded and recorded affirmative votes.
Consent agenda: Resolutions R24-523 through R24-541 were moved and carried by roll call, and minutes of Nov. 26 and Dec. 3, 2024, were approved.
For each ordinance the clerk read publication confirmation (Dec. 8 edition of The Record) and council proceeded without public comment in the hearings. Where motions were made, speakers identified themselves on the record (e.g., Councilman Michaels moved to adopt Ordinance 24-37). The meeting record shows roll-call affirmative votes by the members present for the items listed above.
