Renshaw told the board that roughly half of the approximately 95 renewing licenses submit complete materials late during the renewal window and that prior late‑fee policy in 2018 for health department filings reduced that department’s backlog. Board members debated the amount, noting other license types carry a $200 late fee and arguing that $50 might not be a sufficient deterrent for higher‑value liquor licenses. After discussion, a board member moved to set the late fee at $100 per annual renewal effective Nov. 1, 2024; the motion passed unanimously.
Town staff indicated that reminders and outreach will continue and that the Select Board office and other departments will coordinate notification to licensees about the new fee.
The change will be effective Nov. 1, 2024, per the motion passed at the meeting.
