Falmouth consultants present parking study recommending targeted pricing, wayfinding and curb‑extensions to ease Main Street congestion

Consultants hired by the Town of Falmouth presented findings and recommendations Tuesday after the planning department used a $25,000 state grant to fund a downtown parking study.
Jeff Hornock, Town Planner, opened the meeting saying the purpose was to review the consultant analysis and gather public feedback. “So we’re here tonight to talk about parking in our downtown,” Hornock said, noting the grant paid the consultant team Stantec Engineering.
The consultants said their inventory counted roughly 1,700 spaces across the study area, about 82% of which are off‑street. Ethan Rankin, who led the counts, said the Lawrence School lot provides roughly 160 spaces and Main Street contains roughly 95 three‑hour on‑street spaces.
