Select Board accepts donations, approves licenses and appointments; 250th events cleared

At its December meeting, the Mansfield Select Board handled a string of community and routine business items.
Northeastern Savings Bank presented a $25,000 check in support of the town’s 250th anniversary celebrations; Rob McDonald, chair of the 250th committee, thanked the bank and outlined parade and event plans for 2025. "Northeastern Savings Bank gave us a generous $25,000 donation," McDonald said during the presentation. The board moved to approve the 250th committee's events pending routing through town departments and voted 4–0 in favor.
The board also approved the transfer of a common victualler and entertainment license to Mooya Burgers and Fries; applicants Suhad and Petra Saliba introduced themselves and said they plan to operate a franchise at a Mansfield location. The motion to approve the license transfer passed unanimously.
Fire Department leaders and a retired firefighter described the recovery and return of an antique Mansfield fire boat built in 1937 by the Old Town Canoe Company; the McLaughlin family pledged funds to mount the boat at the fire station. The board voted unanimously to accept the donation and discussed a future public display and plaque.
On routine business the board approved 2025 license renewals, several board and committee reappointments (Jack Cooney, Laura Lee Fisher, Rebecca Foster, and Matthew Paul), and appointed a select board member to serve on the superintendent search committee for Theresa Murphy's upcoming retirement. The board also approved and signed the special town meeting warrant for posting.
Next steps: The 250th committee will proceed with event planning and departmental routing; town staff will finalize logistics for the fire boat display and licensing routing prior to issuance.
