The Mansfield Select Board unanimously approved the transfer of an all‑alcohol off‑premises license for Dubs Discount Liquors, located at 30 Chauncey Street, to K Liquor Corp.
Attorney John Marady of Damocas Law Offices introduced the applicants and said K Liquor Corp is purchasing the business from Austin Dubuqueus LLC and seeks approval to designate Kushan Patel as manager of record. Marady said the buyers do not plan to change the store footprint or hours and that existing staff will largely be retained. “They will be TIP certified,” Marady said, referring to training in responsible alcohol service, and added the store will use an ID scanner to help prevent underage sales. He also said K Liquor Corp plans to pledge the license and inventory to Newburyport Bank to finance the transaction.
Board members asked routine follow‑up questions about prior legal issues and community commitments; Marady answered that the owners have not had legal problems with other liquor stores and that they plan to continue community programs the store previously supported. One member asked whether the new owners would participate in local anti‑litter and safety initiatives; Marady said they would.
The board first opened and then closed a public hearing on the application; no members of the public rose to speak. A motion to approve the transfer—conditioned on routing through town departments—passed unanimously.
Next steps identified by the board included completing the town’s internal routing and awaiting final action from the Massachusetts Alcoholic Beverages Control Commission.
