The Sturgis Planning Commission voted July 2 to forward the annual evaluation of the city’s long-term comprehensive plan to the city council.
Staff said the commission previously reviewed the material (powerpoint on March 5) and requested a paper report at council direction. The staff report includes the Junction Corridor Study and the Lazell Corridor Study; staff asked permission to present that consolidated report to council and commissioners approved forwarding the report. One commissioner joked that someone would have "a lot of talking to do at the city council meeting," but otherwise commissioners indicated the report looked complete.
The commission’s vote authorizes staff to hand off the compiled paper report and corridor studies to the city manager and council for review; any council-directed revisions or public hearings would be scheduled by council staff.
