The Sturgis Common Council approved its consent agenda Monday after removing item 8.1 for separate discussion. During consent and claims consideration, staff added late recurring contracts and credit-card payments that brought the evening—s new claims total to $478,750.75; the council voted to approve payment of those claims.
Council set a public hearing for July 29 on a liquor-store annex item and approved special-event liquor (SEL) permits for the Loud American (bar service in the VIP ticketing area during the AMA Pro Racing event on Aug. 11) and for Sturgis Brewing Company (Scoop Town customer appreciation party on Aug. 23). Staff said the city will provide more details at the public hearing and that the city is not the direct employer for some rally staffing arrangements (vendors hire personnel for event operations).
Council also agreed to table items 11.6–11.16 to a July 22 special meeting so counsel and staff could complete contract reviews related to rally events.
