MSAD 51 approves one‑campus site plan and authorizes bids for PFAS‑free, non‑infill turf amid neighborhood concerns

MSAD 51's board on Dec. 5 approved the campus site plan for the district's new one‑campus project and authorized district staff to seek competitive bids for an artificial turf surface described by the turf committee as non‑infill, PFAS‑free and recyclable.

The board unanimously approved the site plan following a presentation by the building committee and architects that outlined circulation changes, added parking and drop‑off adjustments, removal of portables and new playground and green space. Building committee chair Tim moved to approve the draft site plan and Christina seconded; the chair announced the motion passed unanimously.

The turf decision prompted the night's lengthiest public comment period.
