Ogden Valley commissioners say county presentation did not match their unanimous zoning vote

Commissioner Barber told the Ogden Valley Planning Commission on Aug. 6 that she had watched the July 15 Weber County Commission discussion of the Cowboy Partners zoning-change request and believed the county presentation did not match what the planning commission had voted on.

"My impression that what was presented to the county commission wasn't exactly what the commission voted on," Barber said during remarks from planning commissioners, adding that the motion had been developed and approved unanimously across four meetings. Commissioner Schuman later said she had listened to the same recording and reached the same conclusion.

Barber said the planner responsible for the project, Charlie, had made the presentation to the county commission. Commissioners said the verbal presentation at the county level omitted or changed elements of the motion they had approved. They did not specify which parts differed in this meeting's comments and asked that the minutes and presentation materials be reviewed for accuracy.

Legal counsel did not dispute that the commission could raise concerns about how an item was portrayed to the Weber County Commission; no formal action (motion or request for a correction) was recorded at the Aug. 6 meeting. The planning commission agreed to review the written minutes and materials and to solicit any corrections from commissioners who were present for the original votes.

The exchange took place near the end of a brief meeting that also approved a consent item and heard no public comment. The commission adjourned after wrapping up the agenda.
