Comprehensive plan moves to Planning & Zoning after two public meetings

Kayla (city staff) told the commission that the comprehensive plan process included two recent public meetings with strong turnout and that public comments have been consolidated into a single document for review. "Those were the final set of public meetings," she said, and invited residents to still provide comment at Planning & Zoning if they wished.
Kayla said Planning & Zoning will review the compiled public comments and make recommendations to the City Commission; commissioners and staff anticipated the commission would likely see the final plan in January 2025 unless additional issues require reconvening. She noted the plan had produced some immediate, small-scale changes already — for example, crosswalks installed on Main Street — and recommended a mechanism for ongoing review so the plan remains current.
The commission confirmed the Planning & Zoning meeting is scheduled for Dec. 10; Kayla and P&Z staff will work through each public comment to decide whether to include suggested items in the final plan.
What’s next: Interested residents can comment at the P&Z meeting on Dec. 10; staff will bring P&Z’s recommendation and the final draft to the City Commission for possible adoption in January 2025.
