Breckenridge commission authorizes submission of CDBG application to state

City staff briefed the commission on a renewed application to the Texas Department of Agriculture for Community Development Block Grant funding. Staff said the city previously applied and scored well but did not receive funding; the current application increases the grant request to $750,000 and would continue to fund Panther Street and associated projects.
"This is the actual, next step in submitting the application," the city manager said. The commission moved to approve Resolution 2024‑33 authorizing the submission of the 2025–26 CDBG application as presented; the motion was seconded and approved by voice vote with no opposition recorded.
Staff said the same projects proposed previously would remain in the application, with some additions to reflect the larger grant size; final award remains subject to state review and selection.
