The Planning & Zoning Commission completed a brief reorganization at its Dec. 18 meeting. After approving the Nov. 20 minutes by voice vote, the commission welcomed a newly appointed member (Kaye/Kate) who had been confirmed by the city council. Members discussed two vacancies and the role of alternates; the commission agreed it would move an alternate (Kristen) into full-time commission status by seniority.
Nominations for chair followed. A member nominated Ken Christiansen; the motion was seconded and the commission ultimately voted to elect Cammy/Cammie Christensen as the new planning and zoning chair. The nominee accepted and outgoing leadership said they would provide paperwork and transitional support.
The zoning administrator told the commission he plans to retire from his position on the planning commission but will continue in his administrative role as zoning administrator and serve as head of the development review committee for an initial period until a replacement is found. Members assigned follow-up tasks for communications: Joe (Binion) was asked to prepare the planning-and-zoning newsletter item reflecting the reorganization; Gary will continue liaison work on moderate-income housing and other volunteers will track county liaison leads and legislative updates.
Votes at the meeting included a voice vote to approve the Nov. 20 minutes (motion and second recorded) and a vote to confirm the new chair; no contested ballots were recorded in the transcript. The commission adjourned at the meeting’s close.
