Council hears timelines for 100 North and 1100 West projects; 1100 West to include 40-foot paved surface and 8-foot shoulders

Public works staff told the council the 100 North project will begin once materials arrive, with blocks opened one at a time and a probable October completion target; traffic engineering recommended converting the intersection at 200 West & 100 North to an all-way stop and reprioritizing Main & 100 North for east-west traffic to improve flow.
For the 1100 West corridor, staff said all necessary right-of-way agreements are in place from 3000 South to 2300 South and that the project design currently calls for a 40-foot paved surface with 8-foot paved shoulders; sewer replacement will be limited to some segments while other utilities and fences will be relocated. Staff noted the city requested earlier funding to negotiate with property owners and expects a project ready for bid next month.
Separately, staff said the delivered four-court gym building will allow the city to break ground and begin construction coordination meetings on Dec. 3. The city plans to manage block closures during work and to allow local traffic where feasible.
No council votes were recorded during the briefing; staff sought to keep the council informed of timelines and right-of-way status ahead of bids and construction.
