Hyde Park Council Approves Boundary Adjustment with North Logan to Resolve Sewer Service Issue

Hyde Park City Council voted unanimously to adjust the common boundary with North Logan City so the north half of a newly developed subdivision can access Hyde Park27s sewer system. Council staff said North Logan approved the change last week and that the subdivision improvements are already in place.

City planner Marcus explained the technical reason for the request: portions of the subdivision north of 3100 North cannot be serviced by North Logan27s sewer and the infrastructure was constructed to allow connection to Hyde Park. Marcus said the boundary correction is largely clerical; once both councils approve the line, the plat will be filed with the lieutenant governor27s office for final recording.

Council members asked technical and legal questions about permitting and utilities but staff reiterated the on-the-ground work is complete and that the approval will simply align records with the development27s built infrastructure. A motion to approve the boundary change was moved and seconded and carried on a voice vote.

Because the subdivision's infrastructure is already installed, staff said denying the adjustment would leave a handful of lots unable to connect to sewer service. The council did not attach conditions and did not discuss additional annexation beyond the parcels described in the proposal.

The council did not identify a timeline for recording after the lieutenant governor27s office processes the plat. Marcus said he would forward the plat and next steps to the council once the state office completes its review.
