Council discusses infrastructure, vendor layout and bounce-house logistics for July 4 events

Speaker 6 raised the possibility of adding permanent event infrastructure (power, stage) near the pavilion to ensure the city can support a growing Fourth of July celebration. “Do we need some kind of infrastructure, power, stage, some kind of thing that we just put up in the park that's just there?” Speaker 6 asked.
Speaker 1 said power had been run near the pavilion when power was installed to the sports court and asked the council to consider future growth when planning improvements. The council discussed options for vendor and vehicle placement to minimize grass damage and crowding, including moving food vendors and truck parking to asphalt on Park Lane and striping the rodeo grounds parking area.
Regarding bounce houses, Speaker 3 said bookings must be made early in January and questioned whether bounce houses should be prioritized given limited space and turf damage concerns. The council recalled past events where community groups used bounce houses and said they did not want inflatables to damage the public grass if left up for extended periods.
No final policy decision was made during the meeting. Speaker 1 asked each council member to bring project ideas tied to their departments to the next meeting so the council can prioritize grant applications and infrastructure work.
