Council endorses pursuit of extrication equipment; Firehouse Subs grant opening in January

Council member Westover (referred to in the meeting as Council member Westover) told the council that Jake has met with vendors and identified a preferred extrication equipment package that includes training and annual maintenance. “That cost we're looking at about $27,000 for that,” Westover said, and noted departments hope to seek a grant through Firehouse Subs, which opens for applications on Jan. 9.
Westover said the department has capital funds that could cover the purchase, but pursuing grant funds remains the goal to offset costs. She added that if the purchase is made soon the department may be eligible for a small price reduction. No final procurement vote was recorded at the meeting; Westover said Jake may proceed in the next few days to secure pricing and application work.
The council did not formally approve a purchase during this meeting; members asked staff to continue grant application efforts and bring firm cost-and-funding recommendations back to the council for formal action.
