Volunteers also discussed criteria for listing names on the memorial, proposing organization by conflict (for example, World War II) and by service branch.
The discussion included concern that prior funds—earlier described as $15,000—had been used for other building projects, and volunteers requested the council show the current memorial account balance publicly to demonstrate available seed money before soliciting additional grants. The group mentioned a reported $60,000 that has been discussed previously but asked the council to confirm those sums in city records.
Volunteers also raised logistics: they said pedestals and some statue components fit on a standard 30-foot trailer, and that Lehigh Arts would help set statues as part of the price. Brittany noted an incorrect public claim about an $80,000 shipping charge and asked that the record be corrected: “That was all included in the price,” she said the vendor confirmed.
Council members did not take a formal vote on the memorial during the meeting but directed that the memorial account be tracked and placed on future agendas so donors and council members have an auditable record. The council did not set installation dates; volunteers indicated they will wait to begin construction until the account contains sufficient funds.
