Price City Council on Dec. 11 agreed to provide a letter of support for the Utah Department of Transportation’s proposed grade‑separation at the US‑6/US‑89 junction in Spanish Fork Canyon.
A project representative attending on behalf of Sunrise, a consultant working with UDOT, described the project as intended to create an underpass to reduce hazardous left turns at a location the presenter called a “little bit of a blind turn” with a history of accidents. The presenter said the project has an estimated cost of $35,000,000 and that the project team aims to collect about 150 signed community letters to bring to state legislators next year.
Council Member Welles moved that Price City compose a support letter for the Utah Department of Transportation and Council Member Grisman seconded; the motion carried on a voice vote. The presenter said the team would collect signed letters in January and deliver them to legislators during the 2025 session.
The council voiced general support for safety improvements at the intersection and thanked the presenters for attending. The motion authorizes a community support letter only; no local funding commitments were made at the meeting.
