Consultants outline events-and-recreation feasibility study, survey to launch Jan. 3

Consultants contracted by Green River described the scope and schedule for a feasibility study for an events and recreation facility, emphasizing community outreach and data collection.

Holly Yoakam, a partner with the Pathway Group, told the council the team is in an assessment phase and plans to conduct 15–20 one‑on‑one interviews with council members and community stakeholders, run a community survey beginning Jan. 3, and hold on‑site engagement events Jan. 23–25. Yoakam said the team will interview peer cities, survey potential users (including agencies and visitors), and produce concept designs and a pro forma construction and operating cost estimate.

The team committed to monthly updates to the council, to make itself available for in‑person meetings during the late‑January site visit, and to present draft findings to the council on March 11. Yoakam emphasized the study is strictly a feasibility assessment and does not guarantee any facility will be built; subsequent funding decisions would depend on council direction and grant or capital‑funding sources.

Council members asked about interview timing and in‑person visits; the consultants said they would be flexible with schedules and encouraged broad participation from elected officials and community members. The consultants also said they had been meeting with local staff and stakeholders and would provide draft outreach language for council use.

The study timeline and the planned March presentation give the council a clear interim schedule for review and public engagement.
