The committee member said the project emphasizes connections to community assets (schools, hospitals), safe highway crossings, art and education along the corridor, wayfinding, landscaping and support for trail-serving businesses in "trail towns." UDOT officials at a meeting in Moab—identified in the meeting as Stephanie Tomlin and Jared Beard—presented the initiative and framed the trail network as a ‘‘skeleton’’ of routes akin to an interstate system for trails.
Committee members told the council federal review steps were expected by April with RFPs and local procurement steps projected into June; the committee suggested Bluff track opportunities to apply for project funding and flagged related corridors such as the Montezuma Creek–Hovenweep connection. The speaker noted a larger funding pot of $45,000,000 (no cutoff date mentioned) that could support additional projects.
