Commission approves land-use clearance for Coral Sands RV Park solar installation

The Bluff Planning and Zoning Commission unanimously approved a land-use clearance Dec. 4 for a solar installation at Coral Sands RV Park. Applicant Jonathan Ferrell said the project, funded by a Rural Energy for America Program grant, will add solar modules to a garage/office structure and two carport-style frames along the northern edge of the park to offset electrical loads for park operations and individual RVs.
Ferrell told the commission the applicant will meet a 15-foot setback for the nearest structure and confirmed the land-use clearance application fee was paid. Commissioners asked whether all generated power would be used onsite; Ferrell said the systems are intended to offset park usage and provide smaller offsets to individual RV hookups.
A commissioner moved to approve the land-use clearance; the motion was seconded and the vote was unanimous. The chair said she would sign the approval and send copies to the applicant, the RV park owner and the county.
Next steps: staff will sign and distribute the approved land-use clearance and coordinate required permit filings with county authorities as needed.
