City parks staff provided multiple operational updates May 15, including recent design revisions for Legacy Park and Milton City Park & Preserve, an extended nomination window for the Wall of Fame and a schedule of upcoming community events.
Tom said the city received revised 30% designs for Legacy Park and Milton City Park & Preserve and will meet with the city engineer and public works to finalize markups before advancing design. Staff said they expect the final markups to move the projects forward over the next couple of months once concept changes are settled.
Thomas reported the Wall of Fame 2025 nomination window has been extended through about June 8; ballots will be created for the board and inductees likely announced publicly at the July meeting, with a ceremony planned in October.
Community outreach staff Kayla (also referenced as Jen) previewed events: Splash and Bash on May 24 from 11 a.m.—2 p.m.; a Memorial Day ceremony May 26 at 10 a.m.; Red, White and You on July 4 from 9 a.m.—2 p.m.; Milton Restaurant Week Sept. 8—4; and a "Last Splash Puppy Bash" targeted for Sept. 13 with vaccination checks, a plant swap in the parking lot and a photographer invited for underwater dog photos. Staff also described special-needs story-time partnerships with the Milton Library and sensory-friendly hours for several events, and said they are developing a Milton nonprofit network and a high-school senior service recognition program.
