The Fallon County Commission on record approved a series of personnel actions, voting unanimously to add a substitute public transportation driver, appoint a new detention officer and authorize multiple seasonal hires for county operations.
Commissioners moved and approved hiring Lee Strait as a substitute public transportation driver after the county’s transportation manager presented an application. In a separate personnel vote, the commission approved hiring Hunter Grimley as a detention officer; commissioners noted Grimley lives in Plevner and has local work experience. Both motions carried by voice vote with no recorded dissents.
The commission also approved seasonal hires across departments: four fairgrounds crew members (Ryan Gorder, Aidan Renner, Cord Olson) and an office assistant (Whitney Thielen), as well as seasonal positions in outside maintenance and a cemetery‑caretaker assistant (pictured names presented by staff). Commissioners discussed start dates around late May depending on weather and seasonal recalls and emphasized succession planning for seasonal positions.
Votes were taken during the regular agenda and recorded as unanimous by the clerk. Commissioners said the hires fill operational needs at the fairgrounds, in road crews and in the jail, and will be reflected in staffing rosters and season schedules.
The clerk recorded the motions and the commission carried each by voice vote. The personnel decisions take effect as hiring paperwork and background checks are completed and start dates are coordinated by department heads.
