Planning and code-enforcement staff told council they had identified the site being used as a truck terminal without site-plan approval, issued notices of violation and had to correct earlier summons paperwork before returning to court. “We issued a notice of violation… once we give them that 30 days, they’re gonna wind up back in court,” the planning staff said. Staff confirmed the contractor removed trees and performed site work without approval; they said the town will document the violations and pursue complaints in municipal court or seek an order to show cause in New Brunswick if necessary.
Council members and staff discussed public-safety and environmental responsibilities: the fire department would inspect for immediate fire hazards posed by parked gasoline tankers; the state Department of Environmental Protection would address contamination or leaking tanks; the health department covers property-maintenance issues. The town said DEP had been notified and had visited the property.
No immediate closure or remediation was announced; town staff said they are working through legal steps and will follow up with residents on enforcement outcomes.
