Edison council honors longtime Edison TV staffers for decades of service

The Edison Municipal Council on June 26 formally recognized two longtime contributors to Edison TV and the township’s civic life.
In separate resolutions the council recognized John Simkowski for his community volunteer work and historical-site involvement and honored Mike D'Amato, described in a resolution as a 20-year broadcast communications manager for Edison TV, on the occasion of his retirement.
Howard Myers, identified during public comment as a resident of Calvert Avenue West, praised D'Amato’s responsiveness and technical work: “He’s responsible and dedicated to his job and the residents of Edison to a fault,” Myers said, noting quick repairs and last-minute fixes that kept broadcasts on air.
Council members offered personal tributes. The council vice president presented the recognition to D'Amato, who thanked colleagues and said Edison TV’s work—“promoting what’s going on in the town and memorializing what’s going on in the town,” in his words—would continue under staff who “started exactly the same way in video production.”
The recognitions were adopted by motion and roll call as part of the meeting’s consent and resolutions agenda. The council noted its appreciation for both honorees and plans to formally present certificates at a later in-person moment for those not present at the dais.
