Council adopts conservation‑easement ordinance and approves consent resolutions and claims

Monroe Township Council voted Dec. 18 to adopt an ordinance accepting a conservation easement and approved several consent resolutions and payment runs.

Ordinance 0122024‑26, authorizing the acceptance of a conservation easement from Brasusa Construction Inc on Block 37, Lot 12 (Union Hill Road), was opened for public hearing, closed with no public comment, and adopted by roll call with members voting in favor.

The council then approved a consent‑agenda bundle of resolutions (R122024‑295 through R122024‑337). The roll call on that motion recorded one ‘‘no’’ vote from Councilman Shapiro and the motion otherwise carried. Council also approved payment of claims for the run date of Dec. 12 by roll call.

During discussion earlier in the public portion, staff explained that several resolutions in the consent bundle concerned housekeeping adjustments to capital and utility finances, including cancellation of older capital grant receivable balances (approximately $900,000), cancellation of water/sewer reserve balances (approximately $3,300,000), and adjustments to older bond authorizations totaling roughly $9,700,000 to clean up accounts associated with closed projects.

What this means: the ordinance acceptance places a conservation easement on the referenced parcel; the consent votes included routine financial and operational items that administration said reduce available outstanding debt and clean up long‑closed capital projects. Council did not remove any items from the consent slate for separate consideration at this meeting.
