Howell Elementary students present 'Kindness Bulldogs' to board, cite local outreach

“The Kindness Bulldogs are a group of over 40 fourth and fifth grade students at Howe Elementary,” a student presenter said, describing the group's efforts. The students told the board they organized a schoolwide food drive that donated more than 400 items to the Southwood County Emergency Pantry, prepared welcome bags for new students, made Valentine's cards and sponsored residents of a local assisted-living home, and recognized staff with cards and small treats.
Principal Therm said the club meets twice monthly with the goal of building leadership and student voice rather than relying solely on adult-directed activities. The board thanked the students for the presentation and presented a plaque honoring student representative Delaney Morrison for her year of service.
The showcase lasted through routine board business; no formal board action was required for the presentation.
