Council adopts ordinance cutting Silverton Road speed limit to 25 mph

Votes recorded on the motion were: Councilman Lowman — yes; Council President Coleman — yes; Councilman Sikosi — no; Councilman Lamb — yes; Councilman Iverson — abstain; Councilman Quinlisk — no; Council Vice President O'Toole — yes.
Council members and residents had argued the reduction would promote pedestrian safety in the neighborhood. A resident later asked the council to consider similar reductions on other local streets that serve schools and foot traffic.
The ordinance takes effect according to township code and will be enforced by local traffic authorities once the new signage is installed.
