The Town Council approved a proposal Aug. 13 to stage a one-day Lake Clarke Shores Arts Festival on Nov. 2, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., at the town hall park and pavilion. Event organizer Rita Jordan said residents are enthusiastic and the plan proposes roughly 600 attendees, up to 20 volunteers, artists’ 10-by-10 booths, and a small participation fee for artists.
"The residents have been very enthusiastic," Rita Jordan said, and organizers said they would require participating artists to carry liability insurance and pay a participation fee expected to range from $75 to $100. Town staff described a new special-events permit and fee structure for advertised events with more than 75 attendees and said the permit fee itself in the fee schedule is $100, while staff would calculate additional cost recovery for police, fire and public-works resources as needed.
Council member (12) moved to approve the festival; the motion was seconded and carried by voice vote. Staff said they would meet with organizers to finalize layout, security and cleanup responsibilities, and then return to the town with any cost-recovery recommendations prior to the event.
Next steps: staff will complete permit review, set specific insurance and cost-recovery requirements, and provide organizers with permit conditions and timelines.
