The Otsego City Council voted at its Sept. 9 meeting to schedule a special meeting for Sept. 30 at 5:30 p.m. to consider awarding the Seagull Creek restoration contract.
City staff said the Seagull Creek restoration bid opening is complete and that awarding the contract at a special meeting would give contractors up to two additional weeks of construction time and improve the likelihood of completing work before Dec. 15. Ron Wagner, who discussed street projects earlier in the meeting, said awarding sooner would avoid pushing work into colder weather and improve scheduling for contractors.
Council member Jessica moved to call the special meeting and Britney seconded. The motion passed by voice vote. The mayor said the special meeting would be limited to the single contract-award item.
During routine business the council also approved the meeting agenda and the consent agenda by voice votes earlier in the session. Staff member Sabrina reported that absentee voting begins Friday, Sept. 20 and that ballots will be sent at that time.
What happens next: The council will convene the special meeting on Sept. 30 to consider award of the Seagull Creek restoration contract; the Sept. 9 record does not show the contract award itself.
