The Otsego City Council on Sept. 23 adopted resolution 2024‑66 vacating a drainage and utility easement on property at 5861 Queens Avenue, owned by Metro Home Insulation, to accommodate a city stormwater improvement project.
City planning staff said the new stormwater pipe along the south property line will carry regional drainage beneath Queens Avenue and resolve longstanding drainage issues; with that improvement the existing easement no longer serves a public purpose and returning the land to the owner will allow fuller use of the parking area. The planning staff noted that public hearing notice procedures were followed and no comments were received prior to or during the hearing.
Councilmember Tina moved to adopt the resolution; Ryan seconded and the motion passed on a voice vote. The action followed the council’s consent‑agenda approval of the related stormwater project earlier in the meeting and will allow staff to execute the easement vacation and update property records.
