Otsego council approves vacation of drainage and utility easement for Danzel property

The Otsego City Council on Aug. 12 adopted a resolution vacating a drainage and utility easement so a Park and Recreation commissioner may build a detached accessory building at 1466770 First Street in Lindbar Estates.

City planner (presenting the item) said the proposed detached building would encroach on an easement dedicated on the plat but that a grading plan reviewed and approved by the city engineer would preserve the stormwater basin’s capacity. "The area highlighted on the screen is proposed to be vacated as drainage and utilities meant, and that it no longer serves public purpose," the city planner said, and staff recommended approval of the resolution identified in the staff report.

Mayor opened the public hearing; no members of the public spoke. Council member Britney moved to adopt the resolution and Tina seconded. Following a brief clarification of the resolution number on the record, council members signified "aye" and the motion passed.

City staff said any grading changes would be reviewed and that easement adjustments would be carried out with necessary permits and engineering oversight. The planner noted the approval was based on maintaining drainage function after the proposed grading modifications.

The council did not record individual roll‑call votes in the transcript; the motion to adopt the resolution was announced as passed. The council then moved on to other business.
