The Otsego City Council adopted Resolution 2024-71 during its Oct. 14 meeting to certify delinquent utility charges as assessments on the tax roll.
Staff explained that, when legally required, the city places liens and starts new accounts for unpaid utility balances. Council reviewed an item involving duplicate accounts at the same address and confirmed no clerical error; with that clarification a motion was made and the council approved the resolution to assess delinquent utility bills.
The motion to adopt Resolution 2024-71 passed unanimously; staff will forward the assessment roll to Wright County for inclusion on the 2025 tax statements as required by process.
