The Cranford Township Committee voted unanimously on Dec. 3, 2024, to approve a consent agenda of municipal resolutions numbered 2024-404 through 2024-421. The roll-call vote recorded Commissioners Black, Gallo, Miller Prunty, Deputy Mayor Curran and Mayor Andrews as voting "yes," carrying the slate of items.
Notable items on the consent agenda included: authorization of a professional engineering contract with Colliers Engineering and Design Inc. for the Rahway River desalting project (resolution 2024-404); award of a construction contract to Grove Contracting LLC for the Cranford Public Library additions and renovations (resolution 2024-405); purchases including an uninterrupted power supply from Johnson's Communications (resolution 2024-406) and a custom Pierce Manufacturing pumper for the fire department (resolution 2024-408); authorization to apply for Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funding (resolution 2024-410); and a temporary suspension of parking meter enforcement in the Special Improvement District during the holiday season (resolution 2024-421).
The consent agenda also contained routine personnel and administrative items: holiday schedules, employee vacation carryovers, a leave of absence under the Federal Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA) for a police department employee, tax refunds, and grant-related acceptance items for opioid trust and drunk-driving enforcement funds (resolutions 2024-419 and 2024-420).
A committee member moved to approve the consent agenda and a second was recorded; the clerk read the list of resolutions into the record before roll-call voting. There was no extended debate on these items during the meeting; they were approved as read.
What happens next: Contracts and authorizations approved on the consent agenda proceed to execution or solicitation as authorized by each resolution and relevant municipal procurement rules. The library construction contract and other awards will proceed to the contractual and procurement steps described in the resolutions.
