District project updates: Dunn's Corner delays, State Street milestones, Springbrook change order approved

Owner and project managers updated the Wesley Public Schools School Bill Subcommittee on multiple capital projects, describing schedule impacts, pending procurements and a small change order the committee approved.
At the opening of the updates section, the Owner/Project Manager said Dunn's Corner is running behind schedule because school occupancy and recent weather have limited work. Springbrook is preparing to reinstall a waterline that failed inspection; the Owner/Project Manager said the work will be corrected and reinspected by the town and that the error will not result in added cost to the district. "No extra cost," the Owner/Project Manager said in response to a member's question.
The State Street project was shown with slide photos indicating the gym, music and kitchen areas, active concrete work and a stormwater basin; the Owner/Project Manager outlined a milestone timeline of continued footings and walls through mid-January, potential steel topping in late February or early March and exterior wall framing to follow.
The subcommittee also heard that the change order review group approved an interim $1,124.55 change proposal at Dunn's Corner to scan an existing slab so contractors avoid cutting into incorrectly located slab elements. Later, the committee approved by motion a $9,954.95 change order to replace and square off asphalt in Springbrook's loading-dock area to create a level surface rather than a patch.
Staff described procurement activity for a "stage 2" package: three bidders responded, the scoring team identified a high-scoring firm (named in the record as Bruce De Thornton) and a cost proposal was requested from that bidder to finalize award after the holiday period. Capital projects staff also reported Springbrook roofing nearing completion with added downspout work to address water infiltration (possible additional change order); locker-room work at the high school faced underground plumbing issues requiring temporary planning for holiday tournaments; a variance hearing about middle-school vestibules is scheduled for Jan. 14; and ESSER-funded items remain on schedule.
The committee moved to scheduling and adjourned for the holidays.
