Pennsauken Township on Dec. 19 held a required public hearing for a 2025 New Jersey DEP Green Acres Urban Parks grant application that proposes renovations at Stockton Park and a new multiuse path to link the park with Pennsauken Athletic Fields at Elm Avenue.
A planning consultant described the concept as a package of improvements to increase access and usability: a perimeter walking path with fitness stations, an inclusive playground, safe crosswalks across Union and Orchard avenues, rehabilitation of baseball infields, covered batting cages, code-compliant bleachers, LED upgrades for football-field lighting, and an improved snack stand. The consultant said the project would create safer walking routes for students traveling to nearby Feim School and improve evening-use safety with modern lighting.
The consultant invited public feedback and directed residents to submit comments via the township website; an online survey will be available after the presentation. Committee members and attendees expressed support for the concept at the hearing and thanked the project team for the design work.
No public objections were recorded during the hearing and the committee closed the public-comment portion after offering the opportunity to speak. The grant application is a preliminary concept and staff said further design details and cost estimates will be developed as part of the grant process.
