Princeton’s mayor and council approved a set of ordinances and resolutions after the public hearing on Ordinance 2024-42. Highlights of actions taken at the meeting include:
- Ordinance 2024-41: Approved a public hearing and roll-call vote authorizing acquisition of Block 37002 Lot 7.02 (Montgomery Township). The council recorded affirmative votes and adopted the ordinance.
- Resolution 24366: Awarded a professional services agreement to Preservation Design Partnership LLC to draft design guidelines for historic districts, not to exceed $160,000. Council members said the guidelines will aid design professionals and preservation planning.
- Resolution 24367: Authorized an agreement for up to $75,000 to the Arts Council of Princeton for a one-year term; Arts Council Executive Director Adam Welch spoke in thanks and recounted the municipality’s long relationship with the organization.
- Resolution 24368: Approved the Princeton Farmers Market’s use of Hinds Plaza on specified Thursdays in 2025.
- Resolutions 24369 and 24370: Awarded contracts for Smoyer Park playground equipment ($178,626.70) and resurfacing ($69,218.75) using cooperative-purchasing contracts; council cited Mercer At Play funds and an inclusionary-playground design.
- Resolution 24371: Adopted Princeton’s vehicle procurement policy focusing on alternative fuel vehicles and life-cycle cost savings.
- Resolution 24372: Authorized site license agreements with Crown Castle Fiber LLC for five locations to enhance cell service. Municipal staff reported 54 Crown Castle approvals to date with 29 poles already on air and described the multi-step permitting, power and structural review process; staff said some installations may take 3–6 months after approval to come online.
- Resolution 24373: Authorized a New Jersey diesel modernization program grant application.
- Resolutions 24374, 24375, 24376: Approved extensions of lease and management agreements with Housing Initiatives of Princeton Charitable Trust for properties on Griggs Drive and Brickhouse Road.
Most resolutions were approved by voice vote with council members expressing support in remarks recorded in the meeting minutes. The council closed the consent agenda and adjourned after the listed actions.
