Pamela Drit of 13 Concord Green used the public‑comment period to ask whether the RFP and planning materials acknowledge that Concord is one of 10 demonstration towns for all‑electric buildings.
"I may not have just I may have missed this, but you know that we're 1 of the 10, demonstration project towns for, all electric building," Pamela said. A committee participant responded that the all‑electric requirement is a town building code item and therefore does not need to be repeated in the planning document, but that the consultant would be made conversant with it because it appears in the Concord Climate Futures recommendations.
Pamela asked whether the town has the legal authority to adopt net‑zero‑ready building codes or whether that would require additional steps; the committee reiterated that solar‑ready provisions already exist in the town building code and that battery charging readiness is included as applicable. Pamela also asked whether the consultant would examine housing alternatives such as cohousing, mixed‑use development and centralized parking; committee members said those are possibilities the public can advocate for as part of scenario development.
The committee did not adopt any immediate changes based on public comment. Members encouraged community members to raise these ideas during the public process and noted the RFP will make proposers aware of local codes and prior planning guidance. No formal action was taken during the meeting.
