Concord subcommittees pause stakeholder letter; full advisory board to review distribution

Shannon, a member of the subcommittee staff (S4), told the Government & Legal Affairs subcommittee that the community outreach subgroup had drafted a stakeholder letter and assembled a list of roughly 100 contacts. Shannon said the outreach subgroup—s intent was to send the letter to those stakeholders, but she and other subcommittee members argued the government affairs group should review and, if needed, tweak the letter before it goes out.
"The way it's written right now, it is directly coming from the community outreach subcommittee," Shannon said, and suggested options: the outreach group could make initial contact, then the government affairs group could follow up; or the advisory board as a whole could endorse a revised version for broader distribution.
Lee (S5) said the draft reads more like a message for residents and other subcommittees than for legislators and suggested the advisory board might be the proper sender if the message is directed at public officials. Shannon and other members recommended routing the draft to the full advisory board for a final review and sign-off before any broad distribution.
The group also agreed to use John Boynton's master stakeholder list (about 100 names) rather than recreate separate contact lists; Shannon said she has begun populating contact information for the list. Members asked that the outreach subgroup not send the letter until the full advisory board has a chance to review the draft and for the Government & Legal Affairs subcommittee to identify which leads it will manage directly.
Next steps: the subcommittee will present the letter and the stakeholder list to the full advisory board for review and will refine the letter's introduction language to clarify which subcommittee is the point of contact.
