The Sayreville Board of Adjustment unanimously approved application 24-15 on a request from Patrick and Jill Caffrey to add a covered front porch and extend the kitchen at their home at 51 Roosevelt Boulevard.
At the meeting the applicants described the rear addition as a 6-foot-by-16-foot bump-out off the sliding door that will shorten a wood deck currently about 15 feet deep, leaving roughly 9 feet of deck remaining for a walkway and steps. The applicant said the existing pool at the rear will remain unchanged and the front porch will stay within the existing footprint.
Board members asked for and received confirmations that the addition would be finished to match the existing exterior and that the house will remain a single-family dwelling. No members of the public spoke during the public-comment period.
A motion to approve the application was made, seconded and approved by roll call. “Your application's been approved,” the chair said after the vote. The board said it will memorialize the approval at its next meeting; after memorialization, the applicants may apply for construction permits at the borough building office.
The approval does not include additional conditions beyond those discussed at the hearing and the chair indicated standard permit review remains required.
