Ross opens Laurel Grove pedestrian path, hears RPOA winter recap and sets January budget workshop

Town manager reported the Laurel Grove pedestrian pathway opened in time for a Nov. 14 school walk, funded by the town Roadway Fund, TAM Measure AA funds and a $400,000 TAM Safe Routes to School grant. The Ross Property Owners Association recapped Winterfest and suggested town-camera and lighting improvements. Council set a January pre-budget workshop and asked public works to revisit Sir Francis Drake safety.
Town Manager Krista Johnson told the council that a new segment of the Laurel Grove pedestrian pathway opened last month, extending a safe route to and from Ross School. The town funded the work from the Roadway Fund, including TAM Measure AA funds and a $400,000 TAM Safe Routes to School grant; Johnson noted the path opened in time for the Ruby Bridges Walk to School on Nov. 14 and said future work may extend the path to Macon Grade.
Kelly Pleitas, speaking for the Ross Property Owners Association, recapped Winterfest turnout and activities and told the council the event finished $5,000 under budget. Pleitas raised several community items: expanding electrical outlets on the Ross Common to support more holiday lighting and live performances, a possible RPOA contribution to town camera installations, a request to the postmaster about moving a table in the post office lobby, plans for historical walks and a town photo contest.
Councilmembers thanked the RPOA and staff for Winterfest and holiday decorations. Council also agreed to hold a pre-budget workshop (placeholder on the January meeting) focused on the capital improvement program. Councilmember Matt asked that the Sir Francis Drake intersection safety concerns be revisited after a recent crash; Public Works Director Rich Siminich will present resurfacing and signage options as part of the CIP discussion in January.
The meeting closed with seasonal greetings and was adjourned at 6:37 p.m.
