Staff reports 113 survey responses; housing and health top human relations concerns

At the Nov. 4 Lexington Human Relations Commission meeting staff presented the November 2024 report, saying the community survey had received 113 responses as of Oct. 29. Staff said housing was the leading human-relations issue identified in survey responses and health ranked second. The report noted the commission's budget balance of $8,861.25 and that planned updates to the commission's ordinance and bylaws are anticipated in 2025.
Staff encouraged commissioners to continue sharing the survey QR code and offered printed copies if needed. Staff also promoted an HRC DEI event and said the statewide Human Relations Commission meeting would be held Tuesday, Nov. 12, in Salisbury at City Hall from about 8:30 a.m. until roughly 1:00 p.m., including a hate crimes forum and panel discussion.
No formal action was taken on the survey report at the meeting; staff requested commissioners notify them if they wished to attend the statewide meeting and offered to circulate the registration link.
The staff report and event reminders closed the substantive items for the meeting before commissioners moved to adjourn.
