The Lexington City Council on April 14 adopted Ordinance 19-20-25 to rezone the property at 2000 Cotton Grove Road from Traditional Neighborhood District to Business District. Staff said the rezoning aligns the parcel with adjacent commercial uses on Cotton Grove Road and would allow a range of business uses, including retail and restaurants. Michael Whitaker, the applicant and president of the South Lexington Fire Department Board of Directors, was identified during the presentation.
Planning and Zoning reviewed the application and recommended approval; the council opened a public hearing, received no public comment, adopted a statement of consistency and then approved the ordinance by motion and voice vote.
