Local housing updates: CHDC plans three for-sale homes, Concord Housing Authority readies septic replacement

Ray Andrews of the Compton Housing Development Corporation said CHDC plans to build three single-family homes (about 1,600–1,800 sq ft) as part of the Aspect River Homes project; the units are intended for eligible buyers and will include ownership opportunities rather than rental. CHDC said it has sent a letter of commitment to Habitat for Humanity and expects site work to begin this year with light foundations in spring.
Andrews also described a proposed buy-down program in which CHDC would acquire properties—ideally under $750,000—spend up to about $50,000 to renovate, and resell them to qualified buyers; guidelines are expected by January.
Separately, Stefan Bader, chair of the Concord Housing Authority, said the authority is studying replacement-reserve needs after taking ownership of 18 properties; CHA plans to hire a consultant to identify needed capital funds and is starting a state-approved septic replacement project at its Strawberry Hill Road development, with state funding secured for design and construction.
Both presenters framed the programs as steps to expand home-ownership and to ensure long-term maintenance of existing affordable housing stock; no town funding decisions were made at this meeting.
